Randy Douthit to Work with Judge Judy


Randy Douthit is a behavioral psychologist and educator specializing in treating trauma and its related sequelae, including PTSD. He has worked extensively on developing evidence-based treatments for chronic pain, PTSD, and other psychiatric disorders. He also designed the Primary Support System Training Program – an evidence-based group intervention that helps veterans manage mental health symptoms and adjust to life outside combat.


Dr. Douthit holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Connecticut and an M.S. in Human Factors Psychology from the Naval Postgraduate School. He served on the faculty for ten years. He is also a graduate of West Point Military Academy. He has been awarded eight military medals for serving this country as an Army Ranger and Special Forces Psychological Operations Officer in Vietnam during 1969-70.]

Among the several awards Dr. Douthit has received, he was recognized by the Army as a “Hero behind the Heros” for his contributions to military health and combat-stress injury research. He was honored as a Facilitator for Peace in 2000 by the National Conference of Christians and Jews. And in 2002, he received The Outstanding Contribution Award from the Colorado Psychological Association.

Randy DouthitHe will work with Judge Judy Sheindlin in her new live educational and entertainment series for kids. It is for the series named “The Judges.” With his expertise as a behavioral psychologist, Douthit will help kids understand that when “he said, she said,” things are not always what they seem to be. He will bring new insights and techniques that show parents how to overcome difficulties in challenging their children to think, act and speak rationally.
